so i decided to move from carrd to nekoweb with 0 coding experience. who told me to do that?

yeah. i basically spent a week (so far) creating, updating and stressing myself out over this website ;-; . but im quite happy with the product so far! i'd love to say end product but, i genuinely keep adding to it whenever i remember something i'd like to ATTEMPT, to add. here's how it went, and how it IS still going:
  • made a sample carrd with the general idea and layout of what i wanted it to look like (just the actual layout itself, so i wasn't starting off with a completely blank page of code on my first time :T)
  • moved it all over to nekoweb (i did choose neocities at first, but i decided against it last minute.), including the media, changed some fonts here and there
  • surfing nekoweb, neocities and tumblr for ideas and assests!
it took... a while. because i knew what i wanted for the most part, but not being able to actually put it onto paper (or code should i say) was so unbelievably frustrating, i haven't felt like this since i began editing almost 10 years ago. damn im old?

anyways. once i had that all figured out it was just... nonstop searching on how to actually use tags and get them onto my template :T i think one of the hardest things was trying to find a music player, and the false belief that i wanted an rss feed for my blog; which back then, wasn't even dreamwidth. all the reddit posts suggested bearblog and other sites that granted, were really simple and nice! but it wasn't what i was looking for, and trying to get it onto my site via the rss feed almost had me explode. That with the combination of trying to add a music player to my site??? NEVER again

anyways... i did manage to add a music player and the link to my blog, on here! i chose dreamwidth because it seemed very user friendly and in the style that i was looking for; i dont mind not being able to figure out how to setup the rss feed at all because im quite fond of this layout. .. though i should get used to actually making more entries soon!

though there are two things im quite proud of on my site so far (mostly because it took me and my smooth brain 16 years to figure out how it actually worked, 100 google searches and 2 small breakdowns)

my recent posts tab, and the border for my webrings!

they are simple when you think about it, but i just ended up spending an egregious amount of time trying to figure out how to actually use 7.css without it breaking my site... again with 0 knowledge of what was ACTUALLY breaking it apart. for the webrings box it was just as annoying too, because i had to figure out how to position them in the center without me, once again, exploding.

despite this, i'm rather happy with how my site is right now! it feels nice, or to the best of my ability anyways :> the main thing i did want was a dedicated tab for my gaming and graphics, but i haven't done that yet, and i'm not sure that i will. i might just have a whole blog post about each one instead, but we will see! if i can figure out how to actually make a new tab without everything falling apart, ill do it. o7

that's it from me this time though :P i'll be making more entries about what i said above.. sometime soon hopefully!
